Science Week

Science week gives each child the opportunity to explore the world of science in a stimulating, dynamic and entertaining way. It brings the ideas of science off the page and is always a success with the children.

During the week special science workshops take place in the school to entertain the children, for example, a bubble show , a Science Tricks show.

There are always visitors, shows or trips to highlight a science theme. What could be more exciting than a hot air balloon being inflated and flown at close range on the school field or having a boa constrictor in your classroom on your return from playtime.  The children first learnt about the history of the balloons and the science behind flight. The children were then blown away by seeing the real thing on their school field. The school was soon filled with creative artwork, writing and an array of hanging balloons.

The sight of snakes in school dispel any myths of slimy slippery creatures as the smooth beautifully patterned reptiles curl around the teacher's arms.

Apart from these thrilling opportunities parents are also invited in for an hour to work with their child on a scientific problem.

We make Science real at Agincourt - something tangible that they can touch. Through this the children have deeper understanding, better insight and more fun.
